Description: David J. Gubernick is originally from Yonkers, New York, lived extensively in the Midwest and moved to Carmel Valley, California from Madison, Wisconsin where he was teaching at the University of Wisconsin. In 2000, he left academics to pursue a new career as a freelance nature photographer and founded his company Rainbow Spirit Nature Photography.
For the first time in his life, David is truly following his passion, Nature photography, both in its intimate detail and grand landscapes. His photography has won awards in local, national, and international competitions. His images have been published locally and nationally, in numerous ads, magazines, books, calendars, brochures, and websites. David provides fine art prints and stock images for the advertising, corporate, editorial, and home décor markets, and is available for assignments and commissioned work. Some of his exhibition prints can be seen at Gallery Sur in Carmel and the Allegria Spa at Ventana Inn in Big Sur. Gubernick’s first photography book, Wildflowers of Monterey County, was published in 2002; he is currently working on several other photography books.
