In 2007 nearly 1200 wines from 8 countries were evaluated by 21 wine professionals over 2 days. Judges awarded 81 gold, 255 silver, and 362 bronze medals. With entries from as far away as New Zealand and South Africa, the Monterey Wine Competition has become a global event.

Natural Events Happening in March

It's Harbor Seal pupping season.

By mid.march most of the adult Northern Elephant Seals have returned to sea to feed, leaving the pups behind on beaches at Ano Nuevo State Reserve and Piedras Blancas to fend for themselves.

Gray Whale migration begins northward from Mexico to Alaska. Cow.calf pairs can be seen nearshore throughout March.
