She’s sick of Tiny Tim (the goody-goody crippled child), she hates her twenty other children (most of them confined to the root cellar), and all she really wants to do is get drunk and jump off of London Bridge. Her life is then turned upside down by a visit from the Ghost of all three Christmases and a Tourette’s Syndrome- suffering Ebeneezer Scrooge. Monterey County Genealogy Society presents Database guru Steve Morse. His One-Step website started out as an aid for finding passengers in the Ellis Island database. Shortly afterwards it was expanded to help with searching in the 1930 census. Over the years it has continued to evolve and today includes over 100 web-based tools divided into 13 separate categories ranging from genealogical searches to astronomical calculations to last-minute bidding on eBay. This presentation will describe the range of tools available and give the highlights of each one.Meeting will have an early start time of 6:30 p.m.

Girl Scouts of the Monterey Bay will be collecting gently used coats in front of Macy’s and then every Saturday from 11:00 am -3:00 pm through January 3, 2009. All coats will be cleaned by Country Club Cleaners at Del Monte Center and directly distributed (free) to those in need in our community. Children’s coats are especially needed. MY Museum is thrilled to host a canned food drive for the Monterey County Food Bank. Bring in 1 can of non-perishable food and receive $1.50 off admission with every can donated. Maximum 1 can per person, not valid on Tuesdays. Our 2,700 square foot facility is filled with hands on exhibits to be explored and enjoyed, whether for the first time or the hundredth. Jellies of all kinds are still abundant as the oceanic season begins and upwelling winds start to relax
Steelhead Salmon fishing season begins.
Gray Whales begin their migration to the lagoons of Mexico.Spectacular viewing is available from nearly any roadside turnout along the coast from Pebble Beach and along Big Sur. Bring your binoculars and get up close and personal.
Elephant Seals begin coming on shore to mate in Southern Big Sur.
